First, try the following:

  1. In Syntorial, go into the Options menu, and select MIDI And Audio Preferences.
  2. Under "Audio Device Type" select "Windows Audio".
  3. Close Preferences.

If that doesn't work (or Windows Audio was already selected):

  1. Right-click the sound icon in the Windows system tray
  2. In "Spatial Sound" select "Windows Sonic for Headphones"
  3. Restart your computer.

If that doesn't work, run the Windows Playing Audio troubleshooter:

  1. Go into Windows Settings
  2. Navigate to the Troubleshooters
    • Windows 10: Select Update & Security -> Troubleshoot -> Additional Troubleshooters
    • Windows 11: Select System -> Troubleshoot -> Other Troubleshooters
  3. Run the "Playing Audio" troubleshooter
